Musical Director - Brian Moles
 

Brian Moles was one of the founders of, and holds the position of Musical Director of Spezzati.

A Masters and Bachelors graduate of Royal Holloway College, part of the University of London, he held the posts of both Organ and Choral Scholar, conducted the university chamber choir, as well as running departmental choirs and orchestras. He held the post of acting Organist and Director of Chapel Music during the Sabbatical of Prof. Lionel Pike in the Summer of 2003. During this time, He was also the Organist and Director of Music at Windsor Parish Church, and was responsible for organising and conducting the combined choirs and festival orchestra for the Windsor Jubilee Festival Concert in June 2002. In September 2003 he took up the post of Assistant Organist at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Cardiff, before returning to Royal Holloway a year later to direct the Choral Society through a successful season of two concerts, both well received.

Brian's time is divided between a busy teaching career, as a composer and as a performer. His work as an organist has seen him play in Notre Dame, Paris; St David's Hall, Cardiff and St Paul's Cathedral, London; as well as performing in several other Cathedrals around the UK and abroad. As a singer, he has been a Tenor soloist in various works, including Schubert Offertorium and Mass in G, Haydn Nelson Mass and Mozart Vespers. He is currently a Tenor Lay Clerk at the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban.

Brian is also an active composer, writing for various different genres, including solo songs, chamber music, music for orchestra, as well as writing for the choral music genre. He has been a finalist in and winner of several competitions, and is regularly being commissioned to write new works. Recently he has had works performed in London, and in various Cathedrals and minsters, including Wells, Canterbury, Truro and Beverley. Drop, Drop Slow tears, a work for unaccompanied mixed choir, has recently been published by Boosey and Hawkes in their publication, Calmo. Some audio samples of his choral works can be found below.

As a teacher, his time is divided between private teaching and peripatetic work, and teaching music at schools in Hertfordshire and Berkshire.

Outside of music Brian has a liking for the countryside, cooking and visiting rural public houses.
